Marc Vilajuana - double album (2021/2022)

This commission for the actor and singer-songwriter Marc Vilajuana has consisted in making some paintings on Photography. The multicolored abstract forms come to join the portrait of the artist, to form a set that unites seriousness and joy of both those seasons that are winter and spring, evoked in the titles Solstici and Equinocci.

The work has been carried out in several phases, which went through stages of construction of the idea and the collaboration with the photographer. Initially, the project was oriented more towards carrying out a semi-transparent deconstructed portrait of the author in oil (see also Academic drawing), to then refocus on the abstraction of forms.

One of the challenges of this project has been the need to work on images, without having the photograph until later stages of the project. For this, I have worked with oil on glass sheets, to later be able to reintegrate them in the final montage in the post editing stage. Another challenge has been to find a suitable compromise between the need to maintain the transparency of the colored spots without green chroma and preservation of color saturation.

First solo album, December 2021.

SOLSTICI is a set of my own compositions for piano and voice from 14 to 24 years old. This instrument always has given me a feeling of vastness, of eternity. Oneiric spaces and the terrain of ideas rises from the keys with this interest I have in the essentiality of early music and the reiteration of the minimalism of the XX century; repeating patterns allows us to glimpse their microcosms.
